AlloDx Presents a Multi-site DNA Methylation Model for Predicting SRNS at ASN 2024
The 57th American Society of Nephrology Kidney Week (ASN Kidney Week) has been grandly held in San Diego from October 24th to 27th, 2024, U.S. time. This highest-level industry event in the field of nephrology has contributed a wonderful academic event to the global nephrology field.
The 57th American Society of Nephrology Kidney Week (ASN Kidney Week) has been grandly held in San Diego from October 24 to 27, 2024, U.S. time. This highest-level industry event in the field of nephrology has presented a wonderful academic feast to the global nephrology field. Many cutting-edge results have been unveiled, providing important guidance for clinical practice.

The research results related to AlloDx methylation and SRNS came to the fore at the conference. On the 24th and 25th, they were reported and displayed in the poster at the Futures Theater of the conference, attracting many international medical workers in the field of nephrology to stop and communicate.
Glucocorticoids are the first-line treatment for patients with nephrotic syndrome (NS). Approximately 20% of patients with nephrotic syndrome present with steroid-resistant nephrotic syndrome (SRNS). If SRNS can be identified before initial treatment, the potential side effects associated with subsequent steroid use can be reduced by using alternative immunosuppressants. The AlloDx R&D team discovered and confirmed the correlation between gene methylation changes and SRNS. At the same time, by detecting multiple CpG sites of specific genes, they established a model that can predict SRNS and achieved good AUC values in both the training set and the validation set. This result was invited for two presentations and exchanges at this ASN, which fully reflects the importance attached to this research result in the international nephrology field, and also demonstrates the potential of AlloDx in the early diagnosis of hormone-resistant nephrotic syndrome.
It is hoped that with the further development and improvement of this research, it can be transformed into a practical tool in clinical practice, helping to improve and enhance the prognosis of SRNS patients, and bringing hope of higher quality survival to more SRNS patients.
