New York State approves Eurofins Viracor new kidney transplant rejection biomarker test

Eurofins Viracor and Transplant Genomics said the New York State Department of Health's Clinical Laboratory Evaluation Program (CLEP) has approved the company's Viracor TRAC donor-derived cell-free DNA testing and TruGraf gene expression testing are used to evaluate the rejection status of kidney transplant recipients.

The company said it has adopted the American Medical Association's current procedural terminology system (CPT®) authorization, which provides a Private Laboratory Analysis (PLA) code for this test. Viracor TRAC is a non-invasive detection method based on a new rejection biomarker - donor-derived cell-free DNA, which can detect kidney transplant rejection early. TruGraf is a gene expression test, It also provides clinicians with the possibility of detecting subclinical rejection because changes in immune system expression are activated before indicative rejection occurs.

This means that kidney transplant patients in all 50 states, including New York, can use TRAC and TruGraf for rejection testing.
